The following is a list of all the times Biden exhibited less than expected morality as president. None of these are policy-based; all are character based. Also, the point of comparison is not a saint or a superior human, but what should be expected of a politician that sits in the Oval Office.
Biden Politicized the Government in Unprecedented Ways
- FAA bans Fox News from flying drones to capture immigrants crossing border
- It was rescinded the next day.
- Johnson wrote letter to FAA demanding explanation; I can't find any response. FAA claims that CBP requested the TFR because the drones were interfering with enforcement.
- Drone Strike Distraction in Afghanistan and then lying about it
- "Almost everything senior defense officials asserted in the hours, and then days, and then weeks after the Aug. 29 drone strike turned out to be false."
- Combined with the celebration of "striking back at taliban" and the month of denial Also, ordering this strike in the first place just to distract from withdrawal or make a case that they can still fight after withdrawal. Politically motivated, not defense motivated
- Elevated Lina Khan immediately after approval
- Pandemic Management
- Having CDC overrule ACIP on boosters, and announcing boosters before FDA made decision. Putting politics above science AND good governance. Pushing for national boosters before fda approved. Led to two resignations due to politicization.
- Redefining Gain of Function after admitting they funded something very similar
- Reneged on promise to open schools and follow science because teachers unions wanted schools to stay closed
- Censored Americans
- Sent IRS after Matt Taibbi when he was testifying
- Trying to use Georgia's reasonable voting reforms as a political weapon
- CBP App to circumvent the border crossing problem
- Not doing anything about protests in front of Supreme Court Justices' homes until a wannabe assasin was apprehended.
- Energetically (and illegally) going after anti-abortion activists, exagerrating the numbers and actions of conservatives acting as "domestic terrorists", while at the same time turning blind eyes to violence from the left from anti-Israel activists, threats against the Supreme Court and Republicans, and pro-abortion zealots. (Separate list for Garland specifically)
- Going after Musk (equity), excluding Musk from EV summit at White House, Eschewing Starlink in favor of other, more expensive options for rural broadband
- Student loan forgiveness. First doing it despite everyone saying it was illegal, then modifying it to avoid court scrutiny, then doing it again after being determined unconstitutional
- Whip Controversy - Took an out-of-context photo, interpreted it in the worst way, and used it as a political weapon to bludgeon anti-immigration proponents and immigration enforcement. When the truth came out, didn't apologize.
- Soliciting a letter from education professionals complaining about critics of CRT policies so that DOJ could start investigating them
- Using the bipartisan infrastructure law to pay for personal aggrandizement and political campaign advertising
- Showed little humanity or concern when the issue wasn't immediately beneficial. (Laken Riley, the Afghanistan soldiers' transfer ceremony, rarely mentioned American hostages held by Hamas, rare and late border visits)
- Taking Oil out of strategic oil reserve purely to lower gas prices ahead of elections
- Unions
- Publicly siding with a union on strike - the first time a president ever walked a picket line.
- Longshoreman's Union Deal - maybe it's nothing, but I suspect they'll get a sweetheart deal before Biden leaves office. Stay tuned.
- Criticizing Robert Hur for his conclusions and then refusing to release the audio recordings under the ridiculous excuse that the tapes could be used to create a deep-fake audio of Biden when the total time of already publicly available audio from Biden is unquantifiable.
- Running for second term; not getting out for a month even after debate
- Calling Trump a fascist up until the election; stopping after the election.
- Locking in Work From Home for Social Security union employees to hamstring Trump
- Pardoning Hunter; Blaming "politicized DoJ"; Lying about pardoning Hunter all year long
- Not firing anyone for anything
Biden Pushed the Envelope on Rule-Making
- Trying to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants in a Budget Reconciliation Bill (Parliamentarian shot it down)
- Unilaterally banning non-competes nationwide with no legislation and no debate
- Title IX expansion to trans
- Zombie Voting
- Mask Mandate - determined to be unlawful, neither passengers nor airlines wanted it (as shown by the immediate end of mask usage for most people). Biden's DoJ filed an appeal to maintain the power to require masks in the future.
- Vaccine Mandate - "Sweeping" and unprecedented attempted expansion of government. Fought it up to the Supreme Court.
Biden Unilaterally Enacted an Unpopular Agenda
None of these are illegal or legally unprecedented, but they cater to the far-left and could not get passed legislatively and probably wouldn't get a majority of popular support.
- Keystone Pipeline
- Defense paying for abortions
- Massively expanding tax credits in IRA beyond the amount estimated by CBO. This sounds abstruse and unimportant, but saying a program will cost $100 billion, and then immediately changing the rules so that it costs $300 billion should not be dismissed. Also, the bill that passed was required to be budget-neutral, which it ended up not being because of changes made after it passed.
- Reducing comment periods for rules changes
Biden Was a Bad Person
- Refused to acknowledge one of his grandchildren because she was born out of wedlock for four years despite pressure
- Lies pathologically - starting before his 2020 campaign, then during the campaign and then throughout his presidency. Even in the closing days, he is still lying.
- For everything he did, no matter how cynical or political or divisive, he would proclaim his personal moral superiority and intelligence and admit no humility or error.
- Biden Used Loopholes to Avoid Paying Taxes
Good Governance
Just to demonstrate less than 100% bias, here are some good things he accomplished/did.
- Hearing aid reform
- NLRB complains about no politics on mask corpse policy.
- Meeting with Trump for transition
- Not reappointing Lina Khan in last three months (TBD)
